Our TU Clausthal SPE Student Chapter had an excellent visit to the SPE Student Chapter at TU Bergakademie Freiberg on December 4th and 5th. With support from SPE Germany, five of our members travelled to Freiberg for two days of exchange, learning, and networking.
We were warmly welcomed with a relaxed chapter meet-up over pizza and drinks, where we shared activities, experiences, and ideas for future collaboration. In the evening, our hosts, joined by faculty advisor Silke Röntzsch and Markus Barsch from G.E.O.S., took us to the Christmas market. We were also invited to join Barbarafeier, giving us a fun glimpse into Freiberg's student and mining traditions.
The next morning, we attended a company presentation led by Fabian Grünert and Markus Barsch, both from G.E.O.S. Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH., during which we learned about interdisciplinary work between drilling and reservoir engineers, as well as exciting developments in Germany's geothermal sector.
We returned to Clausthal with new connections, valuable insights, and plenty of motivation for future joint activities.
We thank Freiberg for their warm hospitality!
